Idea Cellular, a renowned multinational company, founded in 1995 by Kumar Mangalam Birla of Aditya Birla Group. The company is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharastra and basically provides mobile network services in India. Currently, Idea is the 3rd largest mobile network service provider in the country with the user base of more than 160-million.
The Idea is a pan-India integrated GSM operator that offers 2G,3G and 4G mobile services in the country. Earlier, the company has paid approx Rs.5768.59 crore to acquire 3G-spectrum in 11 different circles across India and has been delivering its 3G services in Gujrat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, J&K, Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. On 23 November 2011, Idea Cellular launched two 3G handsets in India: Idea 3G smartphone blade and Idea 3G smartphone based on Android 2.2 Froyo. The Idea has strengthened its customer base after the launch of MNP in India. At the moment the company is focused to launch its 4G LTE services across the country.
