Tata Tiago is a compact hatchback manufactured by TATA. It has been considered the best till now by the companies production. The hatchback is very good and ticks most of the boxes, and with the launching of Tiago, it seems Tata motors have gone to their USP which is compact hatchbacks while maintaining a low price. All the while, Bolt, and Vista are some decent models offered by the car manufacturer and now the Tiago has joined the league.
Tiago comes with a best conventional hatchback design and its proportions are also impressive. The grille on above the line version is made up of gloss black with very fine details and design precision. The stretched headlamps that mix up with the grille is pretty much impressive and fine chroming makes it look more premium. One more feature to hold upon is that shoulder line which runs all the way from the front through windows up till C pillar of the car. Tata Tiago has a completely refreshed interior and looks like an upmarket with the price tag it comes for. The dashboard has a cool dual tone imprinting and nicely textured with gloss black middle console. Orange or Red color option will get you painted AC vents on the dashboard. With a unique offer by the company, the customer can take off seven identified parts of the interiors and could paint job them with any favorite color of choice, which makes the car outstanding from any other car in the segment. The base model also gets the privilege of gloss black accent pieces interiors which will be a surprise for low budget buyers. The instrument cluster is also sprayed with silver color along with crisp red marking takes the Tiago to the height of the same segment. Talking about the seats, Tata has applied all new black fabric with a flash of black and gray upon them. The top end model has a wedge shaped top which fits perfectly with the headrest and big size bolsters pulls up the sportiness of the vehicle. Back support in the seats have plenty of stamina but the same is lacking in the bottom which is down for thigh supports.
Engine and Power specifications:-
Tata Tiago is available both in petrol and diesel engines which are intertwined with a 5-speed gearbox, so coming to the petrol, it is the 1.2-liter engine with 3 cylinders and revotron technique without the turbocharger. The Tiago petrol provides 85PS of power and 114Nm of torque at 6000rpm which compared to other 1.2 liter engines don\'t make disappointed.
The diesel part of the Tiago is all new 1.0 liter 3-cylinder that is capable of churning out 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque. On the NVH upbringing, the diesel is somewhat noisy and the fuel economy is at par with other competitors on a positive note.
Ride and Handling:-
Tiago performs well in the handling portion and in fact, it maintains a greater efficiency in the terms handling apart from its sibling Tata Bolt. The car is very much predictable and stable even in the aggressive driving behavior as it comes with a power steering which handles most of the cuts and turns without any sweat. Tata Tiago comes in 2 engine options i.e. Revotron 1.2T (Petrol) and Revotorq 1.05(Diesel). There are five variants available with Tiago namely :- XB, XE, XM, XT, and XT.
Starting from the Base model Tiago XB :- It is offered with power steering, engine immobilizer, colored bumpers and tinted glass. However, there is no AC for this version and the price of the XB variants Petrol is Rs. 3.20 lakh and Diesel for Rs. 3.95 lakhs.
Tiago XE :- As same from the Base model XE there are added features of AC vent, wheel covers and 12V socket with extra chrome splashed outside. Front single airbags, driver height adjustment, headrest adjuster and some premium upholstery. The price of the XE variant Petrol is Rs. 3.60 lakh and Diesel for Rs. 4.30 lakhs.
Tiago XM :- With the same features of XB and XE, the Tiago XM adds grab handles and coat hook in the interior, central locking system, speed sensing auto door lock, front power windows, rear parcel tray and a follow me home headlamps. No music system has been offered with this variant. The price of the XM variant Petrol is Rs. 3.90 lakh and Diesel for Rs. 4.70 lakhs.
Tiago XT :- Including all the features of standard variants, this model has some of the extra features in front of all the below models. XT variant has body colored ORVMs and door handles, premium upholstery as standard, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear parking sensors and vanity mirror for co-driver. There is also a Harman music system with basic FM, Bluetooth, i-Pod connectivity, AUX and USB inputs. The price of the XT variant Petrol is Rs. 4.20 lakh and Diesel for Rs. 5 lakhs.
Tiago XZ :- The top model engulfs all the features previously discussed and some high specs to watch out like ABS-EBD, alloy wheels, turn indicators on ORVM, body/chrome color AC vents, steering mounted audio controls, LED gauges, rear wiper, and defogger, front fog lamps and cooled glove box. The price of the XT variant Petrol is Rs. 4.75 lakh and Diesel for Rs. 5.54 lakhs.
The Tata Tiago proves to be worthy in all aspects in which Indian buyers would assume from the quality hatchback. Everything from good looks and the handling to its decent interiors, it has successfully improvised the image of the company and the cars it provides to the market. In the case of the engine, there is a little need of refinement and power but the fuel economy it provides almost neutral the numb effect of engine aspect.
