Christened as Toyota Etios Platinum, it is a facelifted version of the Etios Sedan, which made its debut at the 2010 Auto Expo and later launched in the same year. The new version of the car come up with a new front fascia that has been dominated by a new V-shaped grille painted in black color. Front bumper has also been redesigned that is integrated by a larger air dam and the round fog lamps on each side. Moving to side profile and you will get to see chrome furnished ORVMs with turn indicators and sporty skirts. The rear end of the car has been incorporated with a revamped bumper and boot lid spoiler. Moreover, it stands at 15-inch diamond shaped alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the newly launched Platinum model looks so much identical to the ongoing model, however, it flaunts now in new dual tone (Black & Ivory) interior. Furthermore, the piano black finished center console and new upholstery over the seats are giving more premium looks to the interior. In addition, the central cluster is mated to a new touchscreen infotainment system with navigation support. Except for the entry level unit, all the variants have been fitted with features like pillow type rear seats, adjustable front head restraints and height adjustable driver seat facility. As far as the powerhouse is concerned, it has been offered with both the same petrol and diesel engine options. The specification of the petrol motor includes a 1.5-litre unit that makes out 88 Bhp of maximum power and 132 Nm of torque. The diesel trim, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.4-litre D-4D mill that can run the unit with a power of 67 Bhp and a torque of 170 Nm. Both the engines are packed with a 5-speed manual transmission box, while no indication for an automatic gearbox any soon.
No major updates you will find much here either as the car has already been integrated with ample of safety amenities. Albeit, dual airbags are (Driver and Front Occupant) now available as a standard attachment. The braking duties will be taken care of by ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution).
