Ducati Unveiled a Limited Edition 1299 Panigale S Anniversario

Ducati has revealed a ultra-limited edition of 1299 Panigale S at World Ducati Week 2016 in Misano, Italy, to celebrate its 90th anniversary. This special edition is called the Anniversario and Ducati will produce only 500 units of them globally. The Anniversario version is launched by the former MotoGP champion and actively company’s test rider Casey Stoner along with the brand’s CEO Claudio Domenicali.

The new 1299 Panigale S Anniversario features a high-tech update along with the limited edition serial number that differs it from the regular one. Considering its specs, the new bike will be slotted between the current 1299 Panigale S and Panigale R, while it carries the spirit of the brand’s ultra-expensive Superleggera that was launched back in 2014.

The new motorcycle features a new paint scheme of red, white and black body colour along with the golden coloured wheels, inspired by the WSB and MotoGP bikes.

The steering head of Anniversario has been shifted forward by 5mm, so that the bike meet to the same chassis structure as of the track-ready Panigale R. Furthermore, it gets a light lithium battery, carbon fiber heel guards, hugger, rear mudguard and a different rear shock absorber to reduce its weight by 2.5 kg.

Other technology-wise features include the new DTC EVO and new Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO systems that manage to both increase control and push the limits of what the bike can do when rear wheel slide and wheelies too. Besides the new DTC and DWC systems, Bosch cornering ABS, the Ducati Quick Shifter (DQS) for bi-directional clutchless gear changes, Engine Brake Control (EBC) and Öhlins Smart EC semi-active suspension.

In terms of the power, it is powered by the same 1299 Panigale Superquadro V-twin engine that churns out the same power and torque of 205 hp and 144.6 Nm respectively. Suspension duties are formed by the same Öhlins Smart EC used in the Panigale S. The bespoke exhaust system is designed by the exhaust specialist Akrapovic.

Coming to its price tag, as it is being priced between the Panigale S and the Panigale R in the UK market, it is expected to launch in India above INR 40 lakh.
