Mercedes-Benz Likely to Introduce Next-Gen G-Class in 2017

The German luxury car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz is planning to introduce a new model of G-class. Most popular for its off-road capabilities with the all-wheel drive system, the G-class has a strong impression over three decades among the tough SUVs.

The new upcoming G-class model will also carry the spirit from the previous years model. It will have the same iconic face and design language, and will offer an increased space, improved stability with the premium upholstery. This new model will feature a great fusion of performance and luxury comfort.

What company says about its performance, Mercedes expresses its capabilities as, even with the hundred percent gradients, fifty-four percent tilt, and up to 60 centimeters of water, nothing can stop it.

Under the hood, the new G-class is expected to carry a petrol (Codenamed M256) and a diesel unit (Codenamed OM656). The petrol and diesel motors have the same engine configuration of a new 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder that churns out a 360 bhp of maximum power in petrol unit, while the diesel unit produces 300 bhp of power.

Considering some reports, the new G-class model will feature an increased width by 100mm thereby taking it to the 1860mm, also the model gets more of aluminium work which will help to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle by 200 kgs.

For improved vehicle stability and handling, the next-gen G-class will come with a three or four link setup for the front suspension and the newest electro-mechanical steering set-up.

On Safety side, the model will get all the modern safety features along with the driver assistance system. The new G-class is expected to make its global debut sometime in 2017 and India would be one of its recipients depending on the strong market demands.
