2016 Mini Cooper Convertible Launched for INR 34.90 Lakhs

Having similar looks of standard Mini, the India bound 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible has been launched with an effective price tag of INR 34.90 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi). The three-door car is capable of reaching 0-100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds, while reaching to the maximum speed of 235 km/h. As part of the convertible, the soft roof can complete the process of being opened and folded down under 18 seconds at the time of moving speed up to 30 km/h.

Compared to its predecessors, this model has been tweaked with its size by increasing the length by 98 mm, width by 44 mm and height by 1 mm. Now the dimensions measure 3,821 mm, 1,727 mm and 1,415 mm respectively. In addition, the wheelbase has also been changed by 28 mm to give it a more space to the cabin.

Based on the new UKL Platform, the convertible comes with a number of advanced convenient features such as bucket front seats, height adjustable seats of driver and occupants and split-folding rear seatback. Along with these, the 2016 Cooper also gets Alpine HiFi music system with AUX and USB connectivity support, remote keyless door locks, dual illuminating vanity mirrors, speed sensitive volume control, and cruise control.

In terms of safety features, the company has added airbags, automotive stability control, traction and dynamic stability control. The essential control to stop the car sharply, four disc brake, ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and brake assist have also been loaded into this model.

The mechanical duty is taken care by a 4-cylinder Mini twin-power turbo engine, which is tuned to belt out 190 Bhp of power and 280 Nm of massive torque. To transmit the power, a 6-six speed Stronic automatic gearbox is mated to the engine.

As we had already updated that the company will use the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route to sell this car in the Indian car market and will join its another siblings.
