With the start of 2017, the automakers in India have started offering some new updates to their existing lineup in order to keep them more upmarket with their rivals. Keeping the same in mind, Audi has introduced its most affordable convertible car, the A3 with a mid-life refresh. Priced at INR 47.98 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), the facelifted model receive a host of updates similar to that of the A3 sedan facelift, which is about to launch here in the country later this month.

Let’s first talk about the powertrain where it gets the biggest changes. The new A3 Cabriolet ditched the older 1.8-litre TFSI unit and comes with a new 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine. However, the engine is making out less power of 150 hp compared to that of the earlier one producing 180 hp, while the torque remains unchanged and stands at 250 Nm. A 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission is mated to the engine.

Interesting part is, Audi offers the engine with a new COD (Cylinder On Demand) technology that shuts-off the few of the cylinders at the time of no need, which ultimately helps in returning an improved fuel mileage as well as minimising the emission rates. After adding this new theory, Audi claims a fuel efficiency of 19.20 kmpl for this new Cabriolet.

On the designing front, the car sports some minor changes similar to the 2017 A4 sedan which is likely to launch in the following weeks. They comprise redesigned headlamp clusters with new LED daytime running lights, a restyled hexagonal grille and a new front bumper. At the rear-end, the facelifted A3 Cabriolet gets newly designed bumper and taillights.
