2017 Audi A4 Diesel Derivative to Launch in February

Back in September 2016, the entry-level luxury sedan from Audi, the A4 received a generation update, however, offered only in petrol variant powered by 150hp 1.4-litre turbo-unit. Now the automaker is bringing the diesel version of the same, likely to arrive in February 2017.

Going by the reports, “the delay in the launch of this diesel version has been on account of the need to recalibrate the engine for lower grades BS IV.” The 2.0-litre diesel engine is built for Euro VI-compatible fuel which is not yet available in India.

Audi A4 Diesel Version

According to the reports from Autocar India, the diesel-powered A4 will sport EA288 engine capable enough of delivering 190 hp of power, 15hp up from that of the old A4 35 TDI. Moreover, Audi’s S Tronic seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox will be there to help the engine for transmitting the power to the front wheel only. Besides, a six-speed manual could also join the A4 range as an entry-level version in the future.

Coming to pricing, the A4 diesel is expected to be priced in the range of INR 40 to INR 45 lakhs and will rival the likes of the BMW 320d and the Mercedes C 220 d.
