A partially camouflaged test mule of the 2017 Ford EcoSport has been spotted testing in India somewhere near Chennai. This will be the second update to the popular compact SUV after the mildly refreshed version was launched earlier this year in India, and will see major updates inside out. The 2017 model of the EcoSport, however, has already been showcased at LA international auto show last year, but here in India, we yet to get our eyes on it.
While the direct rival Vitara Brezza is doing so well in the Indian market, it’s time for EcoSports to get some advanced makeover that really appeals the buyers. However, there are fewer chances of this 2017 Ford EcoSport to be launched in India anytime soon, it is likely to go on sale around this festive season.
Back on the spy shots, the part which receives maximum changes, the front and the rear section, are entirely camouflaged. The front fascia the compact SUV features a completely new single-piece hexagonal shaped grille replacing the old two-piece pattern. The headlamp cluster and the fog lamps along with the front bumper see several tweaks in their design. All these new updates bring the 2017 model Ford EcoSport more close to the modern Ford SUV ideology, such as Ford Kuga which is on sale globally, features the similar design cues.

On the sides, the new EcoSport remain more or less unchanged, save for the newly designed alloy wheels. At the rear, tailgate mounted spare wheel will continue to serve the Indian and the Asian market as it is the popular choice among buyers.
From inside, however, could not get images, it is expected to receive big changes. The control panel will get a lot of fresh design elements. The basic designing cues on the dash will remain similar to that of the existing model, save for the new center console layout, a new instrument cluster and steering wheel. The central AC vents are likely to positioned lower on the center console. The facelift model will get Ford’s SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation connectivity.

Considering the engine details, the 2017 Ford EcoSport will continue to be offered with the current powertrain options - a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol, a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The engine is further mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed dual clutch transmission.
With this facelift update, 2017 Ford EcoSport is expected to regain its market share in the highly demanded compact SUV segment. Once launched, it will take on the likes of the Vitara Brezza and the Mahindra TUV300.
