2017 Maruti S-Cross (Facelift) Won’t Offer 1.6-litre Diesel Trim-Report

As reported from motoring forum-Overdrive, the Maruti S-Cross which is due for a facelift update this year, will not be offered with the 1.6-litre diesel engine option. The sluggish sales of this configuration are being considered as the reason behind discontinuity of this trim. Here in India, the S-Cross 1.6-litre diesel is only available for the range-topping Alpha variant and priced at INR 11,66,612 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Guys, who are interested to purchase one, Hurry up!! Because a limited count of 1.6-litre diesel S-Cross is available at selected outlets. Also, the company has halted the production of the Maruti S-Cross and dealership are no longer taking orders for the 1.6L diesel.

As the 1.6-litre diesel engine will not be a part of S-Cross offerings then a petrol engine option could be expected as a mid life upgrade to the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. But there are no official words regarded this aspect. A M15A 1.5-litre VVT petrol unit which is capable of producing 109 PS and 138 Nm of torque is probable to fill the void. The petrol engine in question is on sale in the Indonesian-spec (SX4) S-Cross, that is in association with the 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission to convey power to the wheels. If the cost is not a matter of question then the K10C 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET petrol engine also has probability to take place under the S-Cross facelift hood.

Design wise, the new Maruti S-Cross will follow the Euro-spec 2017 Suzuki S-Cross introduced last year. The car’s front end can witness a number of changes. While the interior is expected to get new seat upholstery along with a factory-fitted Android Auto (and Apple CarPlay) compatible Smartplay infotainment system. As per the surfaced reports, the bookings for the 2017 Maruti S-Cross will start from 1 September 2017, followed by a sales launch this festive season.
