2017 Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS Specs Leaked, Prior to Official Launch

The most anticipated hatch from the Maruti Suzuki is set to receive a performance-oriented variant named, Baleno RS in a couple of months. But prior to the official launch that is likely to happen in February, the complete specifications of the Baleno RS have been surfaced online in a couple of leaked images. The leaked web images confirm that Baleno RS will be fitted with a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine under its hood and will receive several upgrades to achieve the performance mark.

No surprise to that, Suzuki’s BoosterJet powertrain was in the headlines for a long ago to be seen on the track-focused version of the premium hatchback. The spy shots revealed that Baleno RS will be powered by a 998cc 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill that is capable of developing the maximum power of 100 bhp at 5,500 rpm along with the peak torque of 150 Nm that comes out at 1,700 - 4,500 rpm. Power will be sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
There is such info of being offered any automatic transmission variant on Baleno RS, though it could be added later afterwards the manual launched.

The leaked specs clearly state to be a performance version of Baleno RS such as all around disc brakes, 114 mm ground clearance and 16-inch wheels along with a 15-inch spare wheel. The spy shots only reveal the mechanical and exterior details of the upcoming Baleno RS, inside the cabin specs are yet to be unfolded, which are, however, likely to be more or less remain unchanged.

Expected to be launched in the following weeks, the performance-focused Baleno RS is likely to carry a price tag of INR 8-9 Lakhs. On the rival side, the Baleno RS will lock its horns against the likes of Fiat Abarth Punto and the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI.
