2017 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and GLA 45 launched in India, Details Inside

The German based luxury carmaker, Mercedes-Benz has expanded its AMG product line-up in India with the rollout of Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and GLA 45. They have priced at INR 75.20 lakhs and INR 77.85 lakhs respectively (All India, ex-showroom). A special Aero Edition for both the AMG’s is also on offer to purchase. The price for special edition AMG’s is INR 77.69 lakhs and INR 80.67 lakhs respectively.

Beneath the front end, both the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 and GLA 45 are loaded with the same 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine to propel. Mechanically associated with AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, the engine in question is rated to develop 375bhp and 475Nm of torque via a mated common AMG Speedshift DCT 7-Speed sports transmission.

Apparently, it’s hard to distinguish between these newly launched 2017 Mercedes AMG GLA 45 and AMG CLA 45 models and the outgoing ones. However, the brand has done a slew of cosmetic updates on both the models in terms of styling and paint scheme. Those are a new glossy black paint along with yellow highlights on components such as the front and rear bumper, tyre walls, and the rear spoiler in the AMG GLA 45 trim. Additionally, a matte black racing stripe is also running through the hood, roof and boot and the AMG graphics on both sides above the side skirts to enhance the sporty appeal of the cars.

Exterior wise, Mercedes GLA 45 and CLA 45 get signature AMG styling and body kit with an aggressive front that houses black mesh grille with AMG badging on the slat along with a wide central air dam and large air intakes on either side of the front bumper.

Both the cars run on 19-inch alloy wheels with different designs, twin 9-spoke design for AMG CLA 45 and single 9-spoke wheels for the AMG GLA 45. In addition to that there are projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED taillamps and rear diffuser with a quad-exhaust setup.

Beside these common modifications at the skin, the interior of both the cars also shares common attributes. Moving inside, the interior is blacked out with the red accent in the form of stitching on the dashboard, side panels, leather seats and on the multi-function steering wheel. In the controls, the cars receive trendy features of an eight-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink for smartphone connectivity on the dashboard.

A patented AMG Dynamic Plus Package is also being offered by the carmaker that avails by improving traction through the mechanically controlled AMG front-axle differential lock, in any kind of driving situations. The mentioned AMG Dynamic package also endows the AMG Ride Control that adjusts suspension setup with Adaptive Damping system and additional Race drive mode. The provided AMG High-Performance Braking System sports precise braking in any misfortunate situations.
