2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo Unveiled at Rs 1.96 Crore in India

Porsche India has unveiled its all-new second-generation Panamera in India today. The luxury sports saloon of the German automobile manufacturer has been introduced in two variants- The Panamera Turbo and The Panamera Turbo Executive. The Panamera Turbo has already made its world debut at an event in June last year in Berlin, Germany, whereas the Panamera Turbo Executive was initially seen in Los Angeles Auto Show 2016.

The new Panamera is based on an all new MSB platform and because of the extensive use of aluminium it has now become 70kg lighter and 5 percent stiffer as compared to its predecessor. Coming next to its dimensions, the new Panamera is nearly 35mm longer, 5mm wider and nearly 5mm taller than the previous model, and notably, the wheelbase has also grown up to 35mm approximately.

Concerning the engine specifications, the German beauty is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol motor, which churns out 550PS of maximum power between 5,750 and 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 770 NM between 1,960 and 4,500rpm. According to the company, the new model gets 30PS and 70NM bump in power and torque respectively, and the fuel efficiency has also been increased up to 10 percent. Moreover, it also features cylinder deactivation tech and its new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK II) is the reason for the increase in overall efficiency.

The all-wheel-drive Panamera Turbo sprints from zero to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds, and opting the Sport Chrono package will slice out that time to 3.6 seconds. Talking about the Turbo Executive, it also uses the same engine but due to having a bit greater dimensions, it takes 3.9 seconds for the 0-100kmph sprint and 3.7 seconds with Sport Chrono package along with a top speed of 306kmph.

The exterior design of the second-gen Panamera has been evolved a bit as compared to the previous model. The front remains the same as its predecessor, but this time rear profile has been designed sharper and the new tail lamps also point the latest 911. Additional features of the Panamera Turbo includes LED headlights (standard) with Porsche’s Dynamic Light System (PDLS), panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control with a touch screen display for the rear occupants, sound systems by Bose or Burmester, and much more. The Panamera turbo has been priced at Rs 1.96 crore (Ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Panamera Turbo Executive comes with a price tag of Rs 2.05 crore (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
