2017 Skoda Octavia to Get New Connected and Driver Assists Systems

Ahead of its expected launch sometime in next year, the mid-cycle refreshed Skoda Octavia has been unveiled with some new range of connectivity services. These new facilities have been added under the “Skoda Connect” label, which is further divided into Infotainment Online and Care Connect services.

For starters, the infotainment service comes with online traffic info indicating real-time traffic flow along the route you have  opt for as well as some other suggestion for alternative routes if traffic jams are found. It also sees the addition of some other noteworthy features that shows fuel prices, news and weather information and parking information online. Besides, the flagship Columbus along with its 9.2-inch display also house facilities such as Google Earth, online map update and Google Street View.

The Octavia also bundles Care Connect services that feature an emergency call (eCall) functions immediately activated in case of an impact. Moreover, the so-called facility come attached with applications like Vehicle Status, which informs the status of the car's lighting or open and closed doors, Parking-position providing the vehicle’s location and a Honk & Flash which further helps to find the vehicle in more easy way by sounding the horn and turning on the hazard lights. There is also a features like Area and Speed Notification that notify the user in case the vehicle is moved without permission.

At the end, the facelifted Skoda Octavia sports a new driver-assistance system, which consists of predictive pedestrian protection, city emergency braking, blind spot detect, rear traffic alert, trailer assist, offering an easy solution to the driver to backing up the  trailer at specific angle and manoeuvre Assist for backing up without the trailer, activating brakes as soon as any obstacle is found behind it.

The 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift will be available on sale in the European and other international markets by early next year followed by India launch sometimes by the latter half of 2017. When arrive, it will continue to lock the horns with the likes of Hyundai Elantra, upcoming Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta and Chevrolet Cruze.
