2017 Yamaha R15 V3 Spied with New Headlights and Digital Instrument Console

It’s not been so long, around after a one month of first spied, the 2017 version of the Yamaha R15 has been spotted again in Indonesia. This time, according to the sources, the motorcycle has been captured while rider got stuck in traffic. Being reported, testing again and again, clearly indicates that the upgraded R15, which is expected to be christened as Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3.0, is all set to make its global debut as soon as possible. Whereas, the Indian arrival of this partially inspired from the two famous players of the Japanese giant, Yamaha YZF-R125 and YZF-R6, is rumored to be in 2018.

Here in India, the Yamaha R15 is the most affordable and accessible sports tourer of the country, and the mentioned adjectives make it more likable and loveable in the racing bike enthusiasts. As we all know, Indian audience is kind of budget friendly and always love to get more in less amount. Apart from this, on contrary, I would like to say, the performance of the bike, besides being powered by a compact engine of 150cc, the favorable torque figures makes it much-loved than other in this configuration and price range.

Reported in an interview, earlier this year, Yasuo Ishihara, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor Research & Development India Pvt Ltd (YMRI), confirmed the 2017 Yamaha R15, will be a retuned iteration in every aspects- power, performance and featurings. He said, “The R15 will become better in its next iteration, however, no details can be shared as to what would exactly the specifications be like, but we can assure that it will be a step-up from the current generation in all aspects of performance and safety. We also want to extract as much as possible from a motorcycle to give maximum value-for-money for our products.”

Mechanically, as per the Indonesian reports, the new Yamaha R15 will be powered by an improved powertrain displaced by 155cc. Then, the power and torque output, which is also likely to be bumped from 18-20 hp and 17-18Nm respectively.

Aesthetically, as the 2017 Yamaha R15 is only being spied and not a single image of the bike, has been unveiled officially. So the details cues are still imaginary, but with every spied event, more information regarding the upcoming is rolling out. As the motorcycle will be featured with more aggressive front fender fitted with YZF-R6 inspired LED headlights, fully digital instrument cluster along with USD forks aids at the front end. Other expected visual cues include new body panels, and a lowered pillion seat, wheel design, exhaust system and much more from the ongoing M-Slaz model. Once launched, the upcoming will lock its horns with the already available models like the Honda CBR150R and Suzuki GSX-R150.
