2018 Harley-Davidson unveils Softail models

The recently unveiled 2018 Harley-Davidson Softail lineup includes eight updated models for its 2018 motorcycles and also released details about its plans for the Dyna and Softail model ranges for 2018.

The new Softails have an all-new lighter, new suspension, stiffer frame, and most importantly, the new 45-degree Milwaukee-Eight Big-Twin engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox and available in two versions. One is the 107 c.i. Engine, a 1753cc V-Twin putting out 147 Nm of torque, while a few are available with a bigger 114 c.i., a 1868cc V-Twin which generates 161 Nm of torque.

The eight new Softail models have been put in three different categories by the design team; Modern Classics, Functional Standards and Revolutionary Design DNA. Although the Dyna line has been discontinued, a few Dyna models have been reborn as Softails.

Harley-Davidson has also updated the termination setup in the new structure to upgrade the ride quality. An upgraded setup from Showa does duty at the front, while the rear mono shock is hidden from view and offers easy preload alteration. The 34% lighter frame devotes quicker performance and better handling.

From the 2018 range, the Heritage Classic, Deluxe and Slim make their way to basic Standards divisions. The Low Rider, Breakout and Street Bob sit in the Modernized Classic groups, while the Revolutionary Design divide houses the Fat Boy and Fat Bob. Harley-Davidson has completely rehabilitated its lineup and the new products are expected to be introduced in the Indian market this year.
