2018 Hyundai Verna Garners Over 7000 Bookings in India

As the company claims, the all-new Verna has garnered over 7,000 bookings since its launch in India. And, it has turned out in favor of the company as monthly sales get doubled as expected.

When introduced, the next gen Verna has priced at INR 7.99-12.39 lakh (ex-Delhi) only for first 20,000 lucky customers. So as per the words of south Korean auto major the first 10,000 deliveries before Diwali will get the benefit of early booking.

Beneath the front end, the 2018 Hyundai Verna is packed with the same 1.6-litre petrol and diesel options. While the petrol engine propels out the peak power of 123PS and 155Nm, the diesel engine spits out 128PS and 260Nm. The power transmission duties on both the engines are in concern of a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

The pricing of the new Verna is expected to go up, as the governing GST Council is likely to increase GST rates on cars with the engine over 1.5-litre capacity and length over 4 meters by 10 per cent, and the Verna falls in this category.

If this happens, the Hyundai is all set to compensate the negative effects of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) with the introduction of a 1.4 liter smaller capacity mill which is ready as a backup for the model.

The brand will keep an eye on the new product’s initial customer response as the expected monthly sales from the company is lesser than the rivals the Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in the segment. As per expectations, the new Verna’s figures will get a hike after the introduction of a smaller engine, tagged with an aggressive price sticker.

On the flip of the coin, the Hyundai is also working on bringing AMT technology to its cars. The product that will be blessed with this feature will be a new hatchback and designated between the Eon and the Grand i10. Speculations suggest the model will hit the Indian industry by the second half of 2018.
