2018 Hyundai Verna Wins ICOTY Award in Just 2 Months Post Launch

HMIL that is India’s second largest manufacturer, has recently launched the next generation model of its highly appreciated sedan model, the Verna. Lately, the model was rewarded with the prestigious title of Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY).

Including the 2018 ICOTY title for the new Verna, the manufacturer has won the same for the Creta, Elite i20, Grand i10 and i10 in the respective years of 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2008.

As the report reveals, the next generation Hyundai Verna is selected for the 2018 ICOTY by the jury panel of 18 members of chief automotive publications and the trophy is awarded to the MD and CEO of Hyundai via the president and MD, JK Tyres and Industries Limited.

Within two months of launch, the bookings for the new Verna surpasses the 20,000 units mark. People who are unaware of the prominent features of the latest Verna let them remind that the car is housing various features included the first time ever in the segment.

The car gets a smart trunk that gives effortless opening accessibility without any use of key just via sensors. Other than this, the new Verna is furnished with a sunroof that makes it an attractive product. Though, Honda City is already available in the segment with this aid. The fog lamps are also new and being offered for the first time that will help in providing clear vision in dense fog conditions.

The pricing for the all-new Verna starts at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 12.62 lakh for the top end variant.

Moreover, the car is laden with features such as six airbags, keyless entry, push start button, cruise control, and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Mechanically, the car will continue to be powered by the available 1.6-litre petrol and diesel units.

The transmission option includes a six-speed manual and automatic transmission. In the segment, the car will go into competition with the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.

If the features and specifications of the car are considered, the Verna is being offered with two engine options of 1.6 liter, four-cylinder petrol, and diesel engines. This mid-sized sedan comes with best-in-class features.

To recall, Hyundai Motor India has launched this new generation Verna in India in August 2017 and since then the car has become the best-selling car in the country. Since launch, the sedan has garnered more than 7000 bookings.
