Production of the next generation Jeep Wrangler with a JL moniker is going to commence in November 2017. Bruce Baumhower, president of United Auto Workers Local 12, has confirmed in an interview with Toledo Blade that “regular production of the next-gen Wrangler will commence in November, while pre-production is scheduled to kick off “much earlier.”

It will be manufactured at the same Toledo Assembly Complex where the ongoing Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Cherokee are being produced. According to the reports, Jeep will cease the production of the former product sometime in March, while the manufacturing of the latter one will be moved to Belvidere, Illinois facility in early April. It will take about five months for the Toledo facility to be retooled in preparation for starting production of the 2018 Wrangler. Earlier, a reports also emerged online suggesting that the next generation Wrangler will utilise aluminium in its construction.

In India, Fiat owned Jeep is offering three of its most-in-demand models namely Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SRT. Following the good success of these models, another model from the company, the Compass is going to be launched here in the country. It will be the Jeep’s first product to be manufactured locally at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility, near Pune.
