Recently, Mercedes has unveiled its all-new GLS, which is also one of the largest SUV offerings from the company. The new Mercedes GLS is also unpinned by the Modular High Architecture (MHA) platform, similar to its younger sibling-the GLE. The presence of new platform means that car dimensions have increased and now it is 5,207mm long lengthwise and 1,956mm long widthwise. This also makes the new GLSis 77mm longer and 22mm wider than its predecessor. The wheelbase size has also been increased by 600mm, which now ticks at 3,135mm.

Talking about the design, the new GLT closely resembles the rest of the SUV range cars from Mercedes which include GLC and GLE SUVs. The car is sleeker and more rounded in appearance with aerodynamic refinements. Inside the car hood, the new Mercedes GLS is completely overhauled. The car comes with new MBUX infotainment system with a 12.3-inch screen above the centre console, a digital instrument display, electronically adjustable seats, a new steering wheel with touchpads on the upper spokes, and much more.

On the mechanical front, the car comes with two engine options-petrol and diesel. If we talk about international markets, then the car comes with 2.9-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged OM 656 diesel motor that generates power of 330 hp. On the other hand, there will be two different petrol engines (4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 for GLS 580 trim and 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbocharged engine for GLS 450 trim), will also come with hybrid assistance. Both engines will be capable of generating 22hp and 250 Nm of torque via EQ Boost.

All the engines come mated to a 9-speed torque converter AMT gearbox with Mercedes' latest 4Matic four-wheel-drive system. The air suspension system also comes as standard across all GLS models. A new Active Stop-and-Go Assist feature will also be present on the new GLS, that will enable the car to maintain its lane and the safety distance, up to speeds of 60kph, to avoid traffic jams easily.
