The German carmaker, BMW which has the X5 in the SAV (sports activity vehicle) segment from around 20 years now, has decided to skip the facelift trim of the model in the lieu of the new gen X5 introduction in 2018. Its arrival in India is likely by the end of 2018 or early 2019. The new BMW X5 is the replacement of the current F15 X5 model which will have the shortest 20 years lifespan in the brand’s history.

The set of spy images that are showcasing the updated SUV, clearly revealing the sportier stance of the upcoming that seems inspired by the BMW Concept X7. At the front fascia, the new BMW X5 will have the dual kidney grille, quirky LED headlamps, and wider air intakes. While, at the side profile the SUV with butuched up proportions, has a sloping roofline to the rear end.

The next generation BMW X5 is developed on the CLAR platform architecture that is made up of an alloy consisting magnesium, aluminum and CFRP (carbon fibre reinforced polymer). Those metals not only made the platform durable but also lighter in weight that cumulatively helps in the overall weight reduction of the vehicle. The kerb weight of current generation F15 X5 is around 2,122 kg that will definitely be much lesser in the forthcoming BMW X5, will not only offer the dynamic handling but also boost up the fuel efficiency of the SUV.

The range of powertrains under the new age BMW X5 hood will be the same for the Indian market. The 3.0 litre diesel option will churn out the 260PS of max power and the 3.0 litre petrol will cough out the maximum power of 306PS. Also, there are possibilities of a 4.4-litre biturbo V8 engine with the “M” performance badging to attract a new range of enthusiasts.
