All-New Hyundai Verna Teased for the First Time

The Korean auto major, Hyundai has teased the India bound model of all-new Verna for the first time ahead of its launch. This is the third generation model of this prominent sedan in Hyundai India lineup. In the global market, technically it is the fifth generation Accent, as the third gen Accent was re-christened as the Verna for the Indian market.

The world premiere of the 2017 Verna was held in China last year, but the Indian market will get the availability of Verna iteration is on sale in Canada and Russia. And the said trim was divulged in February this year. If compares these two different countries models, there is the fine difference at the front and rear end of the car.

In terms of design, the 2017 Verna shares its design language with its elder sibling Elantra, which is more sharp, fluidic and stylish. At the front fascia, the upcoming furnishes Hyundai’s latest signature cascading grille which embellished with upswept projector headlamps. Moreover, the headlamps are integrated with J-shaped LED DRLs like Elantra fitment. The projector fog lamps availability is also there.

The new Verna will feature coupe-like roofline as of the Elantra and the ongoing Verna. While the wrap-around, split LED tail lamps will also be similar to the bigger Elantra sibling. At the rear, the bumper will get dual tone treatment with reflectors.

Inside the cabin, the attachment of Hyundai’s latest 7-inch infotainment system which supports Apple carplay and Android Auto will be a notable feature.

Dimensionally, the 2017 Verna has found some revisions as it gets wider by 29mm and longer by 15mm. Whereas the height will still be unchanged. In recent times, most of the carmakers are following the same design strategy to offer a low-slung appearance, which consequently provides more ground clearance. The wheelbase has gained 10mm owing to which wheels placed at the extremities.

At the mechanical end, the 2017 Verna will be powered by the same engine options, 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engines. However, the conventional 4-speed automatic transmission is likely to be replaced with the newer 6-speed automatic fitment found in the Creta and the Elantra.
