Bajaj-Kawasaki Alliance Ends Up in India; Customers To Face Service, Spare Parts Issues

Finally, almost a decade old alliance between Bajaj and Kawasaki, which was responsible for sales and service of Kawasaki products in India, has been ended up from 1st April 2017. An official statement from Bajaj Auto President, Mr. Amit Nandi confirms a mutual amicable decision of end up the partnership in the country.

Now onwards, the probiking outlets which used to sell Kawasaki’s CKD built motorcycles across India, will now completely serve for its Austrian co-partner, KTM. All these outlets will now only showcase all the five Dukes and RCS models at display in KTM India lineup.

As it is officially clear that these probiking stores will not sell and service Kawasaki motorcycles, then older Kawasaki customers will have to suffer for service and vehicle’s spare part issues. However, IKM (India Kawasaki Motors) wholly owned subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Japan will take care of after sales services, including past customers too.

But the bad news is, right now, only 10-15 such Kawasaki dealership are available in the country that too only in metro cities. This count is almost negligible in comparison to 300+ KTM dealership. Ultimately, the Kawasaki owners from Tier 2 or the Tier 3 areas will have to face a hard time for getting motorcycle serviced. And the spare part change issue will be more worst as it can take a lot of time to source part from the metro cities.

Mr. Amit Nandi statement "Bajaj and Kawasaki will continue to maintain their co-operative relationship across the rest of the world for current and future businesses," showcases no harsh feelings between the giant manufacturers regarding separation.
