BMW Motorrad Premiered R nineT Based Lac Rose Concept

BMW Motorrad premiered a unique concept prototype named as Lac Rose concept at the Wheels and Waves festival organized in Biarritz, France. The R nineT based Lac Rose concept draws inspiration from the BMW R 80 GS series bikes which have a rich history as a Dakar Rally racer bikes in the mid-80s.

This R80 G/S Paris-Dakar limited edition has been created to celebrate the victories of Hubert Auriol and Gaston Rahier at Dakar Rally in 1981, 1983 and 1984, 1985 respectively. The R80 G/S was responsible for creating top adventure bikes. This GS range started from the standard bikes and reached up to the best-produced adventure bikes.

To win the challenging terrain, the Lac Rose concept holds the similar R nineT, air-cooled flat twin boxer engine of displacement 1170cc. The equipped motor is capable of producing 110 bhp of power at 7550 rpm and 119 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm.

BMW Motorrad Head of Design, Edgar Heinrich convey its perception about the revealed La Rose Concept by saying, “It has been interesting to take a different kind of custom menu to a nineT which explores the possibility of going beyond the tarmac, but not in a hard-core way. Off-road customisation is an interesting concept to explore and with this recipe we wanted to bring together the GS and nineT people. And because the Dakar has always been such big news in France we wanted to celebrate its heritage with this definitive French theme for Wheels and Waves.”

Aesthetically, the concept gets a reworked seat, large R nineT fuel tank, works racer inspired color scheme along with a rear frame and tail which get painted in a distinct shade. Other than this, it also contains a ‘race plate’ numbered 101 and the cylinder ‘fins’ for conveying a special tribute to the 1985 R 80 G/S- special-edition production bike. A helmet and a jacket have also been manufactured by this German firm, which matches the color scheme of the La Rose Concept.

Mr. Heinrich further added, “The Concept Lac Rose gives the suggestion of an easy-going and cool roadster that’s stripped down to the essentials but with typical off-road features that allow you to turn off the asphalt and take a trail to somewhere new. It’s the possibility of discovery and fun with no real boundaries that makes this bike appealing – just like the Wheels and Waves festival."
