BMW To Exhibit its Innovative HoloActive Touch System Concept At CES 2017

BMW-Germany based automobile manufacturer will showcase an innovative concept of HoloActive Touch System at the impending Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, next year between 5th-8th January. The BMW HoloActive Touch system is an advanced feature for the future of interior that will be presented to the visitor at the event. Fundamentally, the feature creates an interface between the driver and vehicle, by providing a virtual touchscreen. This free-floating display can be easily be operated by the finger gestures and return acknowledgment in the form of a tactile feedback.

All in all, as the company claims, the HoloActive Touch system is a combination of three different modules of technology that includes the BMW Head-Up Display, BMW gesture control, and the standard touchscreen along with a unique user interface. First, in the automobile history, all the provided services by BMW can be utilized without any physical contact, altogether, it will grant the aids of tangible driver-vehicle interaction same as the orthodox touchscreens.

Now move onto, how this HoloActive Touch works. The image of a full-colour display originates from the reflection that projects next to the steering wheel in the free floating form at the height of the center instrument console rather than the as on the windscreen in Head-Up Display. A camera reads the driver’s hand movements and registers the position of their fingertips on the displayed configurable control pads. Just with the slight user contact on any of the virtual control surfaces, the relevant function gets activated at the same time.

BMW has a track record of its showcased technologies for the interior’s future in the automobile world. The first one is the BMW gesture control technology, which has been unveiled at the 2015 CES and now being used in the BMW 7 Series and 5 Series models. Next is an AirTouch system which was showcased at the 2016 CES and gives the user a full control over the touchscreens by simple hand gestures on the activated control pads. Last but not the least, is the HoloActive Touch, which according to the automaker will completely change the mobility experience by the offered seamless connection and autonomous driving.
