Tesla And Volvo Cars Performs Better in Q1 2018

Volvo cars have registered a global increase in sales in first quarter of 2018 as compared with the same last year period.

In the quarter, the XC60 and XC40 SUVs are awarded as world car of the year and European Car of the Year respectively, touched 147,407 cars sale, high from 129,148 cars sale in a year as SUV line-up of Volvo and the 90 range also received increasing demand.

US market also spent a good first quarter and increased the sales volume by 49% over the previous year sale of 20,083 cars during this period only. The XC60 and the XC90 are proved to be the best-selling models in the market as well.

China indicated a sale increase of 23.3% in Q1 2018 as compared to the same period in previous year. Total registered sales in China stands at 28,768 cars as compared to 23,335 in the same period 2017. Volvo reported a 5.7% growth in Europe with a sale number of 79,512 cars in the first quarter of 2018.

On the other hand, It is the most productive quarter for Tesla. The American EV maker registered a total sale of 34,494 vehicles in the January-March 2018 with a 40 percent increase as compared to Q4. This sale includes 9,766 model 3 and 24,728 Model S and Model X. The model 3 has increased four-fold than the previous period. Tesla mentions it can "double the weekly Model 3 production rate during the quarter by rapidly addressing production and supply chain bottlenecks, including several short factory shutdowns to upgrade equipment."

"In the past seven days, Tesla produced 2,020 Model 3 vehicles. In the next seven days, we expect to produce 2,000 Model S and X vehicles and 2,000 Model 3 vehicles. It is a testament to the ability of the Tesla production team that Model 3 volume now exceeds Model S and Model X combined. What took our team five years for S/X, took only nine months for Model 3."

Tesla wants to grow the model 3 sales continuously through Q2 and planning a production rate of nearly 5,000 units weekly during three months.

Mentioning the total data, the company says that it has registered a total 29,980 vehicles, of which 8,180 were Model 3, 11,730 were Model S and 10,070 were Model X.
