As you were already aware of that the Datsun Redi-Go is based on the shared CMF platform of the Renault Kwid. let me tell you that both these small cars similarly share their powertrain options too and this time the Kwid’s 1.0-litre engine will power the Datsun redi-GO 1.0, which is reported to go on sale soon.
Mechanically, the Kwid gets the maximum propelling power of 68PS and the peak torque of 91Nm at 4250 rpm from the underpinned 3-cylinder petrol engine beneath the hood. The Redi Go is also expected to receive the same without any electronic adjustment.
In terms of offered gearbox transmission, the Kwid 1.0 is on sale with a 5-speed manual and an AMT (automated manual transmission) as well. And like Renault, probabilities are Datsun will also firstly introduce the redi-GO 1.0 with a manual transmission and then follow it with the AMT option later.
At the pricing end, the Kwid 1.0 priced around Rs 22,000 to Rs 25,000 more expensive than the variant equipped with the 0.8-litre engine. Datsun might also keep similar range difference in terms of pricing between the 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre engine versions of the redi-GO.
Currently, there are four variants of the Redi Go are available to select from the D, A, T and T(O) trims. The base variant D is priced at Rs 2.41 lakh in New Delhi. Expectedly, the Redi GO 1.0 will not be offered in the base variant as same the Kwid. The other variants of the ongoing Redi Go such as the A, T and T(O) variants are being retailed at Rs 2.86 lakh, Rs 3.14 lakh and Rs 3.26 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. Therefore, the redi-GO 1.0 is likely to cost near around in the range of Rs 3.10 lakh to Rs 3.50 lakh.
Other than this, there are two more variants such as the S and Sport are available for the Redi Go at the price sticker of Rs 3.41 and Rs 3.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. They will also be offered with the bigger engine or not can only be confirmed at the launch of the redi-GO 1.0, which is slated to launch by July this year. While the 1.0 AMT is expected by the end of this year.
