Ducati Multistrada 1200S D|Air Wins Professor Ferdinand Porsche Award (Video)

Ducati Multistrada 1200S D|Air is the first ever innovation of Italian two-wheeler maker, which has created a history in motorcycle industry. Ducati and Dainese, both have collaborated with each other for the creation of airbag equipped Multistrada 1200S. Talking about the Professor Ferdinand Porsche Award, it’s been assigned to be honored by Vienna’s University of Technology in every two years, which is recognized for technical innovation in the memory of the man who founded the famous German car manufacturer.

Ducati Multistrada 1200S D|Air

The Professor Ferdinand Porsche Award 2015 has been given to Dainese and Ducati’s joint collaboration, which has come-up as an integrated D|Air option for Ducati Multistrada 1200S D|Air adventure-sports motorcycle. For those who opt to purchase this amazingly designed adventure motorcycle, it comes loaded with a complete set of systems and software required for the augmentation of the air-bag fitted in Dainese jacket. This is the first time when a mass production factory motorcycle has been awarded by Professor Ferdinand Porsche Award.

The engineering innovation shown by Ducati and Dainese in this project helps rider to protect himself as well pillion rider at the time of collision. Ducati Multistrada 1200S D|Air jacket took only 45 milliseconds for total deployment of jacket airbag. Cristiano Silei, Chief Executive Officer at Dainese says, “The Ferdinand Porsche Award that Dainese received today is a recognition of the commitment that out company has always shown in relation to safety.” Award was given by Professor Bernhard Geringer, Director of University’s Institute for Vehicle Engines and Automotive Technology.

Along with the Porsche award, Ducati’s Federico Sabbioni and Dainese’s Luigi Ronco has also received €25,000 each. Moreover, Ducati Multistrada 1200S D|Air will be reaching Ducati’s official European dealerships by the starting of the month of July, 2015.
