Ducati's Project 1408 Spied in Europe

While spotted a week before in Europe, Ducati’s new litre-class superbike has now publicly appeared with a fresh snapshot. Christened as ‘Project 1408’, the 220BHP superbike was undergoing final road riding tests. Much like the weight of this mega beast i.e. 155 kg, the price tag is prodigious as well and prints GBP 66,000 (INR 54 lakh).

The limited edition track-focused bike is an amalgamation of carbon swingarm, frame, and several other elements. Anticipated to be Superleggera (Super light in Italian) unit of the 1299 Panigale, the Project 1408 bestows a variety of new features than from the earlier Ducati Superleggera. Called as Project 1201, the previous machine was a rare superbike in itself, which had advanced features including the state of the art technology and a slew of weight saving standards.

On navigating the microsite of Ducati, the snaps of the ‘Project 1408’ highlight the new wheels, new fairing cuts for an improved ventilation, and a carbon fibre rear seat couch. We could expect an underseat race kit to be attached to the model, however, the test mule sports a usual underbelly exhaust. The motorcycle will be the most energetic motorcycle from Ducati’s line-up till date as it’ll get a power output of around 220BHP.

Expected to be unveiled at the EICMA show next month, the “Project 1408” is not going to serve the Indian market at any time later.
