EICMA 2016: Royal Enfield Unveils Himalayan ABS with BS4 Compliant Engine

Ready to expand its approach to the European markets, Indian retro-styled bike maker, Royal Enfield has rolled out an updated trim of its sole adventure tourer, Himalayan at the advancing EICMA 2016. The motorcycle now comes equipped with ABS safety pack as standard and Euro IV compliant engine.The European launch of this RE Himalayan ABS will take place after underway sales operations setup completed by the next year. The official importer and distributor for the shipped motorcycle have already been appointed.

Constructed around a customary chassis developed by the UK-based Harris Performance, RE Himalayan measures 2,190 mm in length, 840 mm in width, 1,360 mm in height in dimensions. The 1465 mm wheelbase and 200mm ground clearance offer a fun ride on mountainous terrain. The kerb weight of 182 kg is easy to handle from the saddle height of 800mm.

If considered adventure touring features of the new RE Himalayan ABS, it comes fitted with a tall windscreen, mudguard and a mud flap, long travel telescopic front fork and rear mono shock, tubeless multipurpose tyres. Its instrument cluster encompasses lots of analog and digital gauges for rich information by the speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge in analog interpretation and trip readings, odo reading, time, compass and ambient temperature has been provided in digital form via indulges meters.

Propelling duties of the enhanced Himalayan is under the supervision of the regular 411cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine. The engine has been retuned to make it BS4 compliant and to improve low-end performance and fuel economy. Mated to a five-speed gearbox transmission, motor churns out 24.5 PS of power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of torque at 4,000-4,500 rpm. As the company claims, the 15 liters fuel tank offers a traveling range of around 480 kms.
