Following VW Vento Probe, Skoda Halts Sale of Rapid diesel in India

Skoda has suspended the sale of the diesel-powered Rapid MT in India. As the ARAI investigation is carried on the Volkswagen Vento for the irregular CO emissions, the Czech automaker decided to stop the sales of the Rapid diesel model. The reason is that the Vento and Rapid come equipped with the same powermill. However, it's just a preventive measure as Rapid has not failed any COP test. The car also don’t have any irregular CO emission issue.

Meanwhile, it came into notice that Volkswagen India recalled over 3,877 Vento diesel due to inconsistent carbon monoxide emissions as per the ARAI report. However, Skoda has not initiated any recall because the ARAI has not probed the Skoda cars. Till now, the Skoda vehicles emission have been found satisfactory.

Moreover, this recall from VW is quite different from the last years heavy recall as at that time the cars were found emitting high levels of nitrogen oxide in the atmosphere.
