Ford has recently introduced a new special edition GT christened as- Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition, within a week from its stunning victory at Le Mans. This edition is a tribute to Ford’s 1966 race car-GT40 Mark II, the first to win the title in the same class 50 years ago. At the same time the car also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the iconic 1-2-3 win at Le Mans by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon.

Each ‘66 Heritage Edition will feature unique interior and exterior color themes and the 20-inch forged aluminium wheels are done up in a gold satin finish. Ebony leather covers the carbon fiber seats inside, with gold accents on the instrumental panel, seat X-brace, and shift paddles.

Garen Nicoghosian, exterior design manager for the car, says, "While the looks are distinctly based on the GT40 Mark II race car, we've accentuated new styling cues to provide a modern interpretation."  This one is also a drivable version unlike the Lego GT Ford launched a week ago.

The  steering wheel and head restraints of the seats are stamped with the Ford GT logo. In the similar notes as 1966 race car, the steering wheel of Ford GT ‘66 are wrapped in leather with seat belts featuring blue webbing. The instrument panel, pillars and headliners also comes with Ebony-leather wrap. The instrument panel, the seat’s X-brace and shift paddles are covered with gold appliques. The Powertrain will remain unchanged with 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost powermill, delivering a maximum power output of 600 bhp. The engine is paired to a 7-speed transmission.

One can view the preview edition of Ford GT’66 Heritage at FordGT.com with the help of the configuration tool. Limited quantities will be made available for the 2017 model year only.
