GEM Revealed e-storm and e-champ at 2015 Delhi EV Expo

Goenka Electric Motor Vehicles Pvt. Ltd has made his debut in the electric two-wheeler market with its e-storm and e-champ electronic bikes. GEM, a leading player in e-rickshaws rendered both these electronic motorbikes at EV Expo held from December 24-27, 2015 at Pragati Maidan,Delhi. The EV Expo was inaugurated by the Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari who also been captured at GEM stall and launched these electronic bikes. The bikes will go on sale in the year 2016.

The e-champ and e-storm are the first environment-friendly offering, which were developed from the scratch in India. Goenka Electric Motor Vehicles Pvt. Ltd, Managing Director, Sanjay Goenka stated at the launch, “We focus on environment-friendly technologies and believe in promoting the cause of clean energy in creating a lasting and harmonious environment.”

Mechanically, e-storm houses a 2000 W BLDC motor that consumes electric from six batteries to propel the bike. These batteries require of charging almost 6-7 hours via plug point. Fully charged batteries will give the propelling mileage of approx. 80-90 Km and speed capacity between 50-70 KMPH. While e-champ runs on 250 W BLDC motor powered by 48 V battery. The charged battery will speed up the e-champ in between 25-30 KMPH and will be covered 50 Km per full charge. The ICAT approval is not required, i.e. no need of the license to drive the e-champ.

On the visual aspects, both the electronic bikes are inverse to each other. The e-storm looks muscular and unorthodox in style, whereas, e-champ receives decent looks. The electronic bikes will be manufactured at the company plant in Sonipath, Haryana. Gem e-storm and the e-champ will compete with present e-scooters in India as BSA Fusion, Hero Electric Maxi and Hero Electric Zion.
