HMSI Imports Lead 125 for Testing and Trial Purpose

The Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India is currently offering only one scooter under the 125cc displaced engine segment, i.e. Honda Activa 125. The Honda Activa is the leading product offered by the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer in the scooter segment of India. The firm has recently brought down another 125cc scooter over the Indian ground, named as Honda Lead 125. The Japanese giant has introduced the Honda Lead 125 in Vietnam, back in the year 2013. After some time, the company has started offering the scooter in various other markets as well.

Believing the rumors, the manufacturer is planning to launch the Honda Lead 125 in India. The launch could be expected to take place in the fiscal year, 2015. The HMSI has imported a single unit of the scooter, in order to check whether it is suitable according to the Indian tarmac and climatic situations. The styling acquired by the Honda Lead 125 is pretty much different with other existing scooters offered by the Honda Motorcycles. Starting from the front, the thick V-shaped chrome strip almost covered the front apron of the scooter. The firm is offering 37 liters of under seat storage space.

Mechanically, the Honda Lead 125 will be featuring a single-cylinder motor carrying an engine displacement of 125cc. The liquid-cooled engine is expected to deliver a maximum power of 8.6 BHP @ 6500 revs and achieves a peak torque of 10.1 Nm @ 5500 revs. The 125cc displaced engine will be incorporated with "Smart Power" technology. The Smart Power technology helps to reduce the friction and improves the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. The firm is also expected to introduce the Programmed Fuel-Injection System (PGM-FI) as an additional feature.

Eventually, we need to wait for further official announcements made by the manufacturer, which will lead us to the Honda Lead 125. Stay tuned with SAMart to know more about the upcoming scooter.
