Honda CB Hornet 160R Based All-New Full-Fairing Sport Bike Underworks: Report

As reported by a renowned motoring forum, Zigwheels, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India is currently working on a new project that will be a full-fairing sports runner to be based on ongoing naked streetfighter the CB Hornet 160R. Recently, the Indian biking sector is having a single option of Suzuki Gixxer SF in the most affordable fairing bikes segment with a price sticker of around INR 90,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). It is the faired transformation of the naked Gixxer 155 and one of the volume-fetcher for the Suzuki brand. By following the same success story of Gixxer and its faired sibling, Honda is setting up itself to launch an affordable sports runner with the price sticker near about INR 95,000.

As expected, the newcomer will be powered by the same 162.71cc single-cylinder engine, that is capable of producing 15.04 Bhp of maximum power at 8500 rpm and transmitting 14.76 NM of peak torque at 6500 rpm with the help of a mated 5-speed gearbox transmission. Other than this, the upcoming would be furnished with the same fully digital instrument console as of the CB Hornet 160R.

A few days ago, an announcement regarding launch of four new products in India by April 2018 has been made by this Japanese two wheelers manufacturer. Out of the 4 new arrivals, 2 were supposed to be motorcycles and 2 will cater to the scooter segment. Only a single unit that is confirmed in the form of Honda Africa Twin, an adventure motorcycle which has been delayed a lot to hit the Indian shores. And, now after this released report by Zigwheels, the 2nd one, which can be considered in the forthcoming four new products is the sport bike based on the CB Hornet 160R. The new scooters are likely to be the maxi-scooters under PCX series (125cc and 150cc).

The brand has recently updated their official website, owing to more stringent BS-IV hit the Indian market from April 1, 2017. As implied changes, we noted the removal of Honda CBR150R and CBR250R from the Indian lineup. However, there is no news that Honda will update these eliminated trims for BS-IV emission norms or would bring the next generation models of the CBR150R and CBR250R in the coming weeks. From the surfaced rumors, it is also expected that bike maker could replace the CBR250R from CBR300R in India.
