Honda Commences Bookings for 2017 City Facelift; India Launch on Valentine's Day

Celebrating the month of love, Honda is coming up with its new City model which is set to be launched on the Valentine’s Day. This might be a great news for all those consumers who want to buy this premium gift for their beloved one. Well, bookings for the car have also been started accepting at the authorised dealerships and can be had for the token amount of INR 21,000.

Launched in the year 2014, this is the first major mid-life update that the fourth generation Honda City is due to have. In three years, the company has reportedly witnessed over 2.24 lakhs units of sales here in the country. Announcing the launch of this 2017 City model, Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India said, "The Honda City has been our most successful model ever since the start of operations in the country. It commands tremendous loyalty among customers and we are extremely excited to add another chapter to the success story of the model with the launch of the new Honda City 2017."

Though the updates are limited to merely the cosmetics, it is important for the company to keep it updated since City is one of the best selling cars in C-Segment. In details, the front fascia of the car is now featuring a new honeycomb pattern grille with a fat chrome bar on the top and sleek chrome strip at the bottom. The grille itself is flanked by redesigned headlamp clusters with LED DRLs. Moreover, the front is also equipped with LED fog lamps, however, on the higher trims only.

On the side, the new City will house a new set of 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheel albeit these are also reported to be offered to only the higher trims. The rear end will get a bit of update too including restyled spoiler, fresh LED taillamps and a newly designed bumper with faux air dams.

Recently, some more details about the car emerged online claiming it to be offered with five variants - S (Manual), SV (Manual), V (Manual and CVT), VX (Manual and CVT) and ZX (CVT). Whereas the new color options are - Orchid Pearl White, Alabaster Silver, Carnelian Red Pearl, Golden Brown and Steel Grey.

Inside the cabin, the India-spec City will share some features with the Thailand-based model. The list includes a black dashboard with all-new infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice recognition facility. Some other noteworthy equipment are - rain sensing wipers, leather seat upholsteries, electric sunroof, auto folding mirrors, and auto-dimming interior mirror.

On the mechanical front, the City is unlikely to receive any changes and will continue to be offered with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC motor and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor options. For transmission, a 5-speed manual and CVT unit is there for petrol derivative, while the diesel has a 6-speed manual unit.
