Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen To Be Designed over Duke Framework

KTM is betting big on the Indian two-wheeler industry. The CEO of the Austrian motorcycle maker, Mr. Stefan Pierer is planning something really big for the Indian market. We've already seen the fan list and likes of the KTM brand's sports motorcycle in the country. Now, the firm is planning to introduce its very own brand, Husqvarna; which is acquired from the BMW in the year 2013. Recently, in an interview, Mr. Stefan Pierer has showed up his interest of acquainting the Husqvarna brand for the Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. The brand could be entering the Indian shores via the CKD or CBU kits.

Husqvarna Vitpilen

The upcoming planned models are the Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen. Both the motorcycles have made their first official appearance at the EICMA, which was being held in the month of November, 2014. From the beginning, the duo is being derived by using the KTM Duke's chassis. The Duke series of sports motorcycles is built around a Tubular Space frame and sharing the same power train probably. The Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen will be hitting the Indian showrooms presumably in the year 2017 and will enter into the production by the coming year 2016.

As of now, Mr. Stefan is busy convincing the MD of Bajaj Auto Ltd. Mr. Rajiv Bajaj regarding the inauguration of the Husqvarna brand in India. As, the motorcycles are based over the Duke's chassis, it will get manufactured at the Chakan manufacturing facility, located near Pune, Maharashtra. For 200cc and 390cc engined motorcycles, the chassis will get exported from the country to the Mattighofen, Austria. The company will then assemble the final components and then the motorcycles will get imported back to the country as CBU or CKD kits.

The KTM CEO is considering the Royal Enfield motorcycles to be the toughest competitor of the Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen. Currently, the Royal Enfield has become one of the major youth-oriented brands in the country, which can also conclude with its increasing sales figures. The Husqvarna motorcycles acquires that classic style, which is offered by Eicher owned cruiser maker firm.
