The Korean Superbike manufacturer, Hyosung, is currently working on expanding its business in the country through the Pune-based DSK Motowheels. Whereas, the company has planned to introduce its three new entry-level models to the Indian market in the upcoming months, according to the report of ET Auto. Moreover, all these models will be positioned in the Sportbike segment and priced between INR 3.5 lakh to 6 lakh. Whereas, the firm has earlier announced that the launch is scheduled for 2014. It is expected that all the models might be a single cylinder version of GT250R, GD250N and 300cc motorcycle. These models will be powered by an all-new liquid-cooled and single-cylinder engine unit that will make it more affordable.

“The company is working on three new entry level models, which will be featured with single cylinder engines which will cater to the fast growing compact sportsbike segment. The new products will help the brand expand its reach to lower price segments than its current portfolio, which ranges from around INR 2.5-6 lakhs”, COO of DSK-Hyosung, Shivapada Ray said.

Mr. Ray stated that the price of cruiser motorcycle will be above INR 2.75 Lakh, but has not released any details about the other two products. It is expected that the price of two other products will be positioned between 1.75 to 2 Lakhs. The new products of Hyosung will enter India as CKD kits and get assembled at the Pune-based DSK’s plant.

In terms of technical specification, the naked sportsbike has received a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine that returns 27.6 BHP of power at 9,500 RPM and 23.5 NM of torque at 7,000 RPM. The engine is mated with a 6-speed gearbox. The 250cc motorcycle will compete with KTM Duke 250 and CBR 250R.
