Hyundai Opens India's First Global Quality and Training Center in Faridabad

The Indian arm of South Korean auto giant, Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) has opened its first global integrated quality and training center in India on Friday. The facility has opened with an objective to read the market condition in the country and other regions of Asia-Pacific and to improve process accordingly. Located in Faridabad in Delhi NCR, it is aimed at developing new products and strategies for domestic as well as international markets.

It is named as Indian Quality Center (INQC) and is the fifth world wide quality center by Hyundai after North America, Europe, China and Africa. Spread over 72,000 sq. ft., the INQC is built with as a part of carmaker’s multi-programme unit which includes a Quality Center, Skill Training Center and Product Quality and Development Center under the same roof.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the INQC facility, Y K Koo, MD and CEO, HMIL said, “With the opening of India Quality Centre, Hyundai Motor further aims to reinforce its commitment to unmatched quality with the focus on zero-defect vehicles. We will continue to focus on delivering the top level of vehicle safety and bring innovative mobility solutions based on human-centric, eco-friendly technologies and services.”

With the new global facility, the carmaker has brought up three major cross-functional quality operations together and has also kept this quality center out of the company’s manufacturing premises, in Chennai. This will further enable the automotive manufacturer to cater to geographical challenges raised from the different parts of the Indian sub-continent. Hyundai also ensured to improve product quality and hance achieve its goal of producing ‘Zero Defect’ by analysing varied customer needs from different parts of the map.

According to Rakesh Srivastava, director (Marketing and Sales), Hyundai Motor India, “The INQC will take lead in new projects, right from their pilot stage, on ‘Top Level Safety Quality’ through proactive communications and understand customer feedback to eliminate potential risks. The centre will also significantly monitor aspects including vehicle durability, unexpected safety issues, system and vehicle benchmarking and aid new model development, right until the mass production stage.”

Hyundai’s new Quality Center along with the part center will be responsible for quality assurance of all the products being exported in the APAC (Asia Pacific) region. Also, to enhance customer experience and quick response of complaints, the facility gets around 10 vendors from Korea including PSC Valeo, Doowan and Hala Visteon, and their representatives.

The INQC facility sees an investment of INR 30 Crore and incorporates a world-class training center along with integrated body and paint training shop.

HMIL is also gearing up to open two new skill training centers at Guwahati and Ahmedabad by the end of CY2017. Hyundai has already started tie-ups with ITI institutes from different states.
