India-Bound Nissan X-Trail Hybrid to be Launched in January 2017

X-Trail, a most anticipated hybrid model from the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan, was earlier reported to be introduced in the Indian auto segment by this year end, but, seems like it is possible only for next year. Going by the reports, it might happen in January 2017. The reason behind the delay is under the table, however, it is believed to be related to the performance of the hybrid engine as the automaker is looking to further examine the SUV in extreme climatic conditions. The automaker will bring this SUV to the country via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route thereby will make the buyer run for a premium price in the bucket of INR 30 Lakh to INR 35 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

Who can forget the glimpse of 2016 Auto Expo where a fleet of cars brought up by numerous automobile manufacturer to cheer the crowd and among them one that turned all the faces towards it was the Nissan GT-R, which has recently been launched in India on 2nd December. At the occasion of launching GT-R in the country, Nissan India President Guillaume Sicard conveyed that the X-Trail Hybrid will be released in India early next year. First revealed at the GIIAS in August, the all-new Nissan X-Trail hybrid had also used the 2016 Auto Expo’s podium and showcased side by side the GT-R.

The Nissan X-Trail SUV is in no way new to the country. It was first ventured into the Indian auto segment back in 2005 and was available on sale here up until 2014, but later withdrawn due to lack of demands. Now, after almost three years, it is making a comeback to the segment, but, instead of using regular powerhouse it comes with Hybrid engine option. With its arrival, India will become the fourth market to receive this beast after Japan, Thailand and Indonesia.

The latest generation X-Trail, which offers room for seven occupants, has been embellished by a host of mind blowing features that include V-shaped grille flanked by a set of sleek projector headlamps, twisted D-pillar, daytime running lights and C-shaped taillamp clusters. In terms of the dimensions, it measures 4640 mm in length, 1820 mm in width, 1720 mm in height and houses a wheelbase of 2705 mm. Besides, it gets a ride height of 210mm, which is significantly better than its competitors.

Inside the cabin, the Trail hybrid is likely to receive a wide range of modern facilities in the form of genuine leather seats, electrically adjustable powered seats at the front row, dual zone climate control, interior with Black, chrome & beige colour scheme, steering mounted audio control, Around View Monitor, a 5-inch display and much more. Talking about safety, it will possibly carry dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, active engine braking, hill start assist, vehicle dynamic control, and ISOFIX anchorages.

On the mechanical front, the all-new Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will be equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine, generating 145 BHP with 207 Nm of torque. Further, the petrol engine will be paired to a 32Kw electric motor, making out an additional power of 41 BHP. The motor will be coupled to an XTronic CVT transmission unit with a 2WD facility. An option of an All-Wheel-Drive facility might also be there.

The forthcoming new 2017 Nissan X-Trail hybrid SUV will be available in 7 exciting exterior colour options namely Ivory Pearl, Desert Dusk, Burning Red, Gun Metallic, Tempest Blue, Brilliant Silver, and Diamond Black. Once landed up here, the 2017 X-Trail SUV will lock the horns with the likes of Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe and some others that fit in the specific segment.
