India-Made BMW G310GS Shipment Commenced to Europe

BMW Motorrad’s co-partner TVS Motors, which is responsible for manufacturing and export BMW bikes to global markets, has started shipment of BMW G310GS to Europe. This India-made adventure motorcycle is all set to hit dealerships in Barcelona, Spain. Currently, the media ride of this motorcycle is underway there. While its launch in Europe is slated in upcoming November month this year.

Similar to the adventure tourer the G310S, all the single-cylinder BMW bikes are being manufactured at the TVS’ Hosur based production unit in Tamil Nadu. In the export markets like the UK, the price for the BMW G310S starts at GBP 5100, around Rs. 4.45 lakhs in Indian currency that is around GBP 600 (Rs 56,000) costlier than the naked sibling the G310R.

Besides being manufactured in India, the BMW G310GS launch here has not been confirmed yet by any of the co-partners. Speculations suggest, it could mark its presence in the Indian biking industry post launch of the naked street fighter BMW G310R, which is due for launch here. The G310R launch has been postponed several times by the German automaker, maybe the bike maker is busy sorting out its response in India. Now, the G310R is probable to hit the Indian showrooms, early next year.

The BMW G310GS is powered by the same a 313cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine that performs powering duties on the G310R naked roadster. The mill in question is subjected to churn out the peak power of 34hp along with 28Nm torque. All the generated power dispatched to the rear wheel with the aid of 6-speed gearbox in association with chain drive. According to the World Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC), the G310S returns the fuel economy of 30.03kmpl.

At the suspension setup, the G310 GS includes USD front forks and a rear monoshock. While the braking on this adventure model is handled by a 300mm disc at the front wheel and a 240mm disc at the rear wheel. The bike runs on dual-purpose Metzeler Tourance tires and has the advanced safety of switchable ABS to end up the risk of skid during harsh braking.
