India-Made Figo And Aspire Facelift Revealed In SA

Ford has unveiled the India-made Aspire and Figo in South Africa. The company previewed the Figo facelift in Europe during Ka+ launch. The updated Aspire previewed first time in South Africa and India obtains the sub-4 variant of the Aspire.

Looking at the front, the revised Ford Figo takes some styling characteristics from the Freestyle, which is a cross-hatch inspired by the Figo. The facelifted Aspire looks similar to the hatchback from the front, like before.

The recently revealed Figo sedan is a mid-spec version. The Titanium variants of the Figo are not available in SA and also miss certain safety and premium features which are available with the European model.

The SA-oriented Figo has sans chrome inside-out and smaller 14-inch wheels. We expect the India-spec Figo to reach in top Titanium version which obtains some similarity with Euro-spec version on the case of the chrome highlighters and double-tone 15-inch machined wheels. The facelifted Aspire will obtain bigger wheels as revealed in spy images previously.

With elegant changes, the facelifted Aspire and Figo will obtain a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder powertrain. It is just similar to the Dragon series engine available in the Freestyle. The engine is known for popularity in powerfulness for a naturally aspirated engine producing an output of 96PS/120Nm in India. It will retain the same 1.5-litre diesel engine. The obsolete iB5 5-speed manual transmission will be cast out to a new MX65 5-speed manual along with petrol and diesel engines.

It is uncertain until now that the revised Figo-duo will get an automatic transmission or not. The previous Aspire and Figo were powered by a 4-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol powertrain along with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic option. Although, it takes a new 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Dragon petrol powertrain attached with a six-speed automatic gearbox similar to the EcoSport facelift.

The SA-spec Figo and Brazil-specific Freestyle obtain the fresh engine along with torque converter. It is also possible that the Ford may get a new six-speed AT along with 1.2-litre engine in the country to profit from the applicable tax on smaller versions of the
