Indian Motorcycle Eyeing to Seize 15 percent of Market Share This Year

Indian Motorcycle is a well known name for their cruiser offerings with extraordinary comfort and power. Polaris owned automaker now have a huge volume of admirers from its entry in the Indian market. The Indian Motorcycles stable keeps Cheif series, Dark Horse, Springfield and the Scout Sixty.

The Indian Scout Sixty and Springfield, both have been launched in the first half of this year. With the sport of its most affordable entry level cruiser-Scout Sixty, the manufacturer is aiming to seize the 15 percent share in the Indian market with the increase in sales.

Launched in May 2016, Indian Springfield carries the priced sticker of Rs. 30.6 lakh, while the Scout Sixty has been offered at Rs. 11.99 lakh. Both the prices are applicable at Delhi dealership.

Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India said, "We are growing at a pretty good clipping at 40-45 per cent so far this year. I am confident of meeting the 50 per cent sales jump we have targeted for this year and corner 15 per cent of the market share."

Ever evolving Indian automobile market, has recorded the upsurge of 2.85 percent with the marked 10,234 units against the indexed 9940 units in the last fiscal. While, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) showcases a huge jump of 91 percent in sales. It recorded 10,234 units mark from the 773 units within the period of four years during FY 2012 to 2016.

Approx 15 global manufacturers like Harley Davidson, Benelli, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Triumph, Yamaha and more are locking their horns in the fierce competition of bikes ranging from INR 10 lakh to INR 50 lakh, in order to capture a good market share and position in the Indian market.

Mr Dubey also shared about the dealership expansion in the country which include six new stores in Chandigarh, Kochi, Pune, Kolkata, Indore and Goa by the end of this year.
