Indian Motorcycles to Begin Local Assembly in India

The Polaris owned, Indian Motorcycles, has already marked its official presence over the Indian ground. Offering the entire range of luxury cruiser motorcycles, the firm is slowly collecting a number of likes from the Indian enthusiasts. Recently, the United States based cruiser manufacturer has launched its two newly joined members; Indian Roadmaster and Indian Chief Dark Horse. At the time of launching these new products, the officials from the Indian Motorcycles have informed that they are working to launch a local assembly for its luxury cruiser motorcycles.

As per the details given by the company officials, the Indian Motorcycles is planning to expand its business line-up in the Indian two-wheeler industry. Apart from this, the maker is also planning to introduce sub-Rs 10 Lakh Indian Motorcycles, which will directly be competing with the offering of Harley-Davidson and Triumph Motorcycles. Currently, the US based cruiser maker is offering six luxurious and magnificence motorcycles.

Indian Chief Dark Horse

Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director of the Polaris India Ltd. says, “We hope to start CKD and local assembly in the next three-to-five years. If things move in the right direction, then we may advance our plans. We are currently studying the market and our competition. Out study showed huge demand for electric vehicles but when we considered the cost of manufacturing, it was very high since we don’t have much of a localization option.”

As of now, the firm is working over the expansion of its dealerships in the country. Currently with two operational dealerships located in Delhi and Bengaluru, the next four are in the row in the major cities of the country; i.e. Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Mumbai.
