Jaguar Land Rover To Sue Chinese Carmaker Over Car Replica

A chinese Carmaker named Jiangling Motor is likely to get sued by the Jaguar Land Rover. The chinese firm has allegedly made a copy of the original Range Rover Evoque. This is said to be the first time in the history of the automotive sector that a company is placing such concern over the copied car.

According to a JLR spokesperson, "served Jiangling with newly filed actions surrounding copyright and unfair competition." No further details were revealed by him as per the report.

The case is related to Jiangling's Landwind X7 SUV, which is objected of wearing the similar design as the JLR’s Evoque model that went for sale in China last year. This is the first take on the chinese automaker that any international carmaker is filing lawsuit in a legal manner.

According to a lawyer who works at Zhong Lun Law Firm, in case JLR wins the case, the things might change and it may promote intellectual property rights.

The matter came into the limelight when the JLR noticed a tremendous downfall in the sales after the launch of China-made Evoque during Q1 last year.
