Jeep Compass Confirm to Launch in India in August 2017

Jeep Compass, which is one of the most awaited SUVs this year, is all set to hit the Indian ground in August 2017. While, as per an earlier statement from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles(FCA), it was scheduled to make its debut in the third quarter of 2017. But now, speculations are it could mark its presence at the showrooms in the first week of August.

The India-Spec Jeep Compass was firstly unveiled in April 2017. While, its production ready made-in-India model was rolled out from the Pune based FCA’s Ranjangaon facility, early this month. The Ranjangaon facility is the only manufacturing unit which produces the right-hand driven Compass variant across the world and also serves the markets consumes right-hand drive vehicles, such as Japan and the UK. To set up this Ranjangaon facility, the manufacturer has invested a huge amount of Rs 1800 crore.



Mechanically, the Compass will be offered with two engine options – petrol and diesel. The 1.4-litre turbo MultiAir2 petrol will be provided with a 7-speed DDCT (dual dry clutch transmission) automatic. While, the 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Likely to be offered in three variants options of Sport, Longitude and Limited, the Compass will come with front wheel drive as standard, whereas the 4-wheel drive system will be offered as optional.

In terms of safety concerned, the Jeep has equipped Compass with all the necessary features like four-channel ABS with EBD, six airbags, panic-brake assist, roll mitigation and brake prefill. The other highlights of the Compass SUV are LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, 3.5/7-inch LED driver information display (DID) and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.



In terms of pricing, with an expected price tag of around Rs 20 lakh, the Compass will be the most affordable Jeep in the Indian market. Here it will go in competition with SUVs such as Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V, and the VW Tiguan, along with the upcoming Skoda Karoq.
