The subsidiary arm of the famed Austrian two wheeler venture, KTM Australia recalled its litre-class adventure touring motorcycle the 1290 Super Adventure over an issue of semi active rear shock. The firm released a statement which tells the faulty semi-active rear suspension setup may cause an oil leak in the shock absorber.

The recalled KTM 1290 Super Adventure motorcycles will include the sold units between 1st February 2015 and the 4th May 2016. The oil loss due to leak at plug connection may result in damage to the interior component of the shock absorber. And the semi-active suspensions software system also needs re-tuning and updation.
The placed recall notice via the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) suggests the affected vehicle will be inspected by an authorized KTM dealership without delay. The delay in the maintenance might lead to a hazardous situation. However, no reports of such accidents came into existence. Customers of the affected motorcycles will also get the notification of the recall through a letter, asking them to contact their nearest KTM dealer to inspect and fixation of the problem free of cost.
