Kymco Ionex E-Scooter Unveiled With New Removable Battery Pack System

Kymco, a Taiwanese firm has unveiled its new electric scooter, the Ionex that boasts of an innovative removable battery system. It is lightweight and can be used and charged up easily. Kymco plans to roll out around 10 new electric bikes housing similar battery pack as of the Ionex. As the company claims, going to be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show, the new Ionex e-scooter will sport in taking go green and zero emission initiative to a next level.

The first product from the Ionex range, an electric scooter uses two removable batteries that are kept under the floorboard. Weighs at only 5 kgs, these lightweight batteries can easily be detached from the scooter just with a single press on the button provided on the battery bay. The battery removal facility gives an ease of charging the battery overnight at home or at the workplace. Altogether, the lowest centre of gravity provided from the under floor battery storage not only endows easy handling but also enables to keep much luggage under seat storage compartment.

To charge up batteries you can plug in the bike at home or remove batteries whatever you want. Also, a Power Outlet Network which is a giant vending machine will avail riders with swapping of drained batteries for fully charged ones. Another option of a Charger Point Network is a retail shop to charge batteries in about an hour. Furthermore, to extend travel range up to 200 kms between two stops, you can rent batteries and keep them under seat storage.

For the coming years, the Taiwanese firm has big plans of introducing charging station in 20 countries along with the production of a half million vehicles. But the Kymco has to rely on various local and national governments to set up the infrastructure along with a full-proof product strategy. Well, there is no information on aspects of price and specs of the new range of electric two-wheelers and when it will hit the market.
