Latest Generation Toyota Fortuner Displayed at 2016 GIIAS

Following the footsteps of India-spec Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, the India-based Toyota Fortuner has also been showcased at the ongoing 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Moreover, the unit has already been available in the Indonesian market at a price bucket of IDR 449,700,00 to IDR 639,200,000. Besides, it is also running in several other countries like Malaysia, South Africa, Thailand and of course in Australia, where it was basically designed in new avtar.

Under the hood, it is hiding company’s new GD series engines, where a new 2.4-litre turbo diesel is believed to replace the ongoing 2.5-litre motor, while a 2.8-litre trim is likely to ditch the current 3.0-litre unit. Having this new mechanism, the former can generate 148 Bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque, whereas the latter can make out 175 bhp of power and 450 Nm of torque. In addition, a 2.7-litre VVT-i four cylinder petrol mill is also available, churning out a power of 163 PS and 242 Nm of torque. Also, it comes with both FWD and AWD configuration facility along with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Some of the standard features are - front and rear bumpers, Bi-xenon projector headlamps, reverse camera, daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, telescopic steering integrated with steering mounted buttons, etc. In order to drive the car at different terrains, it is also featuring three different modes namely Eco, normal and Power.

As the automaker has already been started testing this latest generation unit here in the country, we could believe its arrival soon to the Indian shores. As we have earlier reported, the India bound Toyota Fortuner will be launched by the end of this year or early next year at the price near INR 30 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). Once arrived, it will lock the horns with the likes of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour.
