Lexus Launched In India With RX 450h, ES300h and LX 450d, Read Price and Details

Today, one of the fastest growing automotive markets, Indian auto segment has registered a brand new entry in the name of Lexus, the renowned luxury car brand from Toyota group.

No more speculations, the Lexus brand has finally unloaded three of its most popular models on the showroom floors in India, which are - the RX 450h hybrid Crossover, LX 300h hybrid sedan and LX 450d full sized SUV. While the RX 450h is available in two versions, the later two are being offered in one variant for each.

Lexus RX 450h -

The popular RX-series come in India as Lexus RX450h under the moniker of the fourth generation. The letter ‘h’ in the name stands for a hybrid powertrain. Beneath the hood, it is fitted with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) technology and a 650V AC permanent magnet synchronous battery.

While the petrol unit churns out 262 PS of power and 335 Nm of torque, the electric motor generates 68 PS of power and 139 Nm of torque. The mill is mated to an e-CVT (Electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox and together develops a maximum power of 313 PS along with the peak torque of 361 Nm. The luxury crossover is available in four-wheel drive system only.


Lexus ES300h -

Based on the same platform that also underpins the Toyota Camry, the Lexus ES300h sedan is the entry-level car of the brand in the Indian market. Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.5-litre inline 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor assist. The mechanical motor solely produces the 160 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque, whereas the electric motor churns out 143 PS of power and 270 Nm of torque.

The engine is paired with an e-CVT unit and transmits power to the front wheels only. The car hits 100 kmph speed from a standstill in 8.5 seconds and returns a company claimed fuel economy of 17 kmpl.

Similar to the other Lexus models, the ES300h is also fully imported initially. But this is likely to be the first model for local assembly in India, thanks to its shared platform with the Camry that is locally assembled here.

Lexus LX 450d -

The flagship SUV of the luxury brand, Lexus LX450d is based on the same platform that also underpins Toyota Land Cruiser. The big boy Lexus is powered by a turbocharged 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine which is good for 265 PS of maximum power and a massive torque of 650Nm.

Further, the power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
